Introduction

Hey there, it's been a while since I've made a video or posted anything on social media. You might be wondering what I've been up to. Well, to be honest, my lack of motivation and laziness have been the main culprits behind my absence. But here I am, ready to give you a quick vlog and update on what's been happening in my life lately.

Lack of Motivation and Laziness

I must admit, my motivation levels have been quite low lately. It's easy to fall into a state of inertia, especially when faced with the task of managing my GoPro footage. The sheer amount of space it takes up on both my computer and the camera's memory card can be overwhelming. It's been a challenge to find the energy to tackle storage management and get everything sorted out.

Storage Management Issues

Dealing with storage management has been a real hassle. Not only do I need to clear up space on my computer, but I also have to make sure the memory card is ready for new footage. It's a juggling act that requires careful organization and planning. However, I'm determined to overcome this hurdle and get back on track with my vlogging journey.

Exploring the Coffee and Macut Farm

Currently, I find myself on a coffee and macut farm located on the west side of the Big Island, specifically the Kona side. Although I haven't had much chance to explore the area since my arrival, I've been immersing myself in the fascinating world of coffee plant care. Since it's not yet harvest season, my focus is primarily on maintenance tasks. It's an exciting learning experience that allows me to understand the intricacies of nurturing coffee plants.

Maintenance Season on the Farm

As I mentioned earlier, this is maintenance season on the farm. While the coffee plants are not ready for harvesting, there are still tasks to do. One of them includes collecting Mac nuts that have fallen from the trees. It's not a full-fledged harvest, but it's important to gather whatever we can. Additionally, there are banana plants on the farm that require some attention. Although I've witnessed banana harvesting before on other farms, it's a great opportunity to observe the process again and perhaps lend a hand.

Harvesting Mac Nuts and Bananas

During this time, I have the chance to partake in the harvesting of Mac nuts and bananas. While it's not the peak season for these crops, the occasional fallen Mac nut and ripened banana provide a taste of the farm's bounty. It's a delightful experience to gather these delicious treats and appreciate the bounty of nature.

Spraying the Coffee Plants

One of the essential tasks I've been assigned is spraying the coffee plants with an organic pesticide treatment. Ensuring the health of the plants is crucial, and this treatment is not only effective but also safe for pollinators. Armed with a backpack sprayer, I've taken on the responsibility of applying the treatment to the leaves. It's been a while since I've used this type of equipment, so my spraying technique is a bit rusty. Nevertheless, I'm doing my best to ensure the well-being of the coffee plants.

Using a New Samsung Phone

During my time on the farm, I'm shooting my vlogs with a new Samsung phone. It's a lower-end model, but it serves its purpose well. I had to replace my previous phone, the Fairphone 3, which unfortunately met its demise due to water damage. It was quite heartbreaking to lose such a reliable device. However, I still have the phone and plan to dismantle it to salvage any possible components.

Dealing with a Broken Fairphone

The demise of my beloved Fairphone 3 was a significant setback. The water damage that eventually caused its failure caught me off guard. However, I refuse to let this setback deter me. With the determination to continue my vlogging journey, I'm using the new Samsung phone as a replacement. It may not possess the same sentimental value, but it allows me to capture and share moments from my daily life.

Filming and Capturing Sunsets

Living on the west side of the Big Island has its perks, especially when it comes to capturing breathtaking sunsets. I make it a point to walk up to the road every evening to witness the spectacular display in the sky. The vibrant colors and serene atmosphere make for incredibly captivating video footage. It's a peaceful and tranquil experience that I'm privileged to have in this beautiful area.

Excitement to Explore the Area

I'm genuinely excited about spending more time in this part of the island. There are numerous beaches nearby, each offering its unique charm. Exploring these hidden gems and embracing the natural beauty they hold has become a priority for me. Additionally, the convenience of having a bus service nearby opens up even more possibilities for exploration. Although I haven't yet tried flagging down a bus, I know there's an actual bus stop within an hour's walk from the farm. It provides an easier and more structured means of transportation should I choose to utilize it.

Public Transportation on the Island

On the Big Island, public transportation is readily available, and flagging down a bus is an accepted practice. However, it's at the discretion of the driver whether they stop or not. It's a unique and slightly adventurous way to travel around the island. Given the rainy nature of the area and the presence of mosquitoes, waiting for the bus can sometimes be a challenge. Nonetheless, I'm open to new experiences and ready to navigate the island using its public transportation system.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I apologize for my absence and, more importantly, my lack of motivation. However, I'm committed to getting back into the swing of things. My time on the coffee and macut farm has been rewarding, filled with enlightening experiences and incredible natural beauty. With a renewed sense of purpose, I'll be capturing and sharing more moments from this journey. Stay tuned for more exciting adventures and the wonders of the Big Island.
