Introduction
Welcome to AutoTechNick, the channel where I share my passion for cars and take you on a journey through various projects. In this video, I'll provide some background about myself and give you a glimpse of the content you can expect to see on this channel.
Background and Experience
Before diving into the projects, let me tell you a bit about myself. My first car was a red 1952 Chevrolet pickup that I restored during high school with my father's help. This experience ignited my love for cars and led me to attend Wyoming Technical Institute's General Automotive program. Although I initially wanted to specialize in Street Rod programs, I ended up honing my skills as a Master Technician for BMW and later as a Shop Foreman for a local Ferrari dealership. Working with Ferrari allowed me to work on incredible cars, such as vintage Colombo V12s, the Ferrari Enzo, and the iconic Ferrari F40.
Ferrari Testarossa Awards
One of the highlights of my career was participating in the annual Ferrari Testarossa Awards. This prestigious competition aims to identify the best talent within the Ferrari network. I was fortunate enough to attend the competition four years in a row, winning the title of the top Ferrari technician in the world in 2019. The competition involved rigorous testing, both practical and theoretical, and provided me with invaluable experiences and connections within the industry.
Channel Creation
Having spent the last 20 years working on various projects in my home shop, I decided to create this channel to share my passion with fellow car enthusiasts. I want to take you along on my journey and showcase the projects I'm currently working on. Whether it's modern imports, classic German cars, or American Hot Rods, I have a wide range of interests, and you can expect to see videos covering everything from engine builds to chassis work, suspension setups, fabrication, rust repair, body panel replacement, painting, electrical work, and more.
Range of Content
As mentioned earlier, I am all over the board when it comes to car projects. I enjoy the resto mod style, where I strive to keep things clean and make subtle modifications that enhance both the aesthetics and performance of the vehicles. The channel will feature a variety of content, including engine builds for Big Block Chevy, Small Block Chevy, classic Germans, and modern imports like Subaru. Additionally, you'll witness my expertise in chassis work, suspension installation, rust repair, body panel replacement, painting, electrical diagnostics, and more.
Past Projects
Throughout my career, I've worked on numerous exciting projects. Some of the notable ones include a resto mod restoration on a 95 Civic hatchback, where I converted it from an automatic to a manual transmission and installed a high-revving B-Series Honda engine. I also undertook a restoration of the rear half of an E28 M5, replacing all mechanical and rubber components. Furthermore, there's the Subaru WRX Sti, which I built back in 2009-2010, reaching an impressive 640 horsepower at the wheels. These projects showcase the diverse range of skills and experiences I bring to the channel.
Resto Mod Style
If you're a fan of the resto mod style, you're in for a treat. I love combining the classic aesthetics of vintage cars with modern performance upgrades. From engine swaps and suspension modifications to custom paintwork and interior enhancements, the resto mod style allows me to create unique and personalized vehicles. I strive to keep the modifications subtle yet impactful, ensuring that the original essence of the car is preserved while adding a modern touch.
Future Projects
On this channel, you can expect to see a variety of upcoming projects. I have an extensive lineup, including a complete resto mod project on an E28 M5, where every aspect of the car will be enhanced and modernized. Additionally, I will be working on various small odds and ends on a 2001 M5, as well as continuing the restoration of my beloved 1952 Chevy pickup. Whether it's engine rebuilds, chassis work, or electrical diagnostics, I'll be documenting every step of the process, providing valuable insights and engaging content.
