Joe Rogan's Favorite Coffees: A Review of His Top Picks
Welcome to Home Grounds! Today, we are diving into the world of Joe Rogan and his favorite coffee picks. If you haven't heard of Joe Rogan, he's a well-known comedian, actor, and podcast host, but perhaps most intriguingly, he is also the cousin of Gerard Way, the lead vocalist of My Chemical Romance. Recently, the Joe Rogan podcast released an article titled "What is Joe Rogan Drinking on the JRE Podcast?" which highlighted a few coffee-related products. Being self-proclaimed coffee experts ourselves, we decided to give these products a try and share our honest opinions. So, let's dive into the world of Joe Rogan's favorite coffees!
3. Joe Rogan's Coffee Favorites
Joe Rogan has mentioned a few coffee products that he enjoys on his podcast. In this section, we will explore each of these products in detail.
3.1 Caveman Coffee Co Nitro Cold Brew Coffee
The first coffee on Joe Rogan's list is the Caveman Coffee Co Nitro Cold Brew. This canned coffee claims to have over 200 milligrams of caffeine, which is about one and a half times the amount found in a typical brewed coffee. It is a blend of premium South American coffees cold-brewed for 12 hours. The can instructs one to shake it a couple of times before pouring. Upon tasting, we found that the coffee had a smooth texture, thanks to the nitrogen infusion. However, we felt that the taste was slightly underwhelming and lacked the strong coffee flavor we were expecting. It reminded us more of slightly coffee-flavored water. Despite this, the high caffeine content and smoothness make it an appealing option for those in need of a quick energy boost. The downside is that these cans can be a bit expensive, but buying in bulk can help save some money.
3.2 Black Rifle Coffee Company CAF Blend
Next up, we have the Black Rifle Coffee Company CAF Blend or "Caffeinated AF" as they call it. This coffee prides itself on being a high-caffeine punch with a rich, smoky flavor. However, we had reservations about it since coffee brands that claim high caffeine content usually use coffee robusta, which is not as flavorful as coffee arabica. Upon further investigation, we discovered that this coffee is not 100% coffee arabica but a blend that likely includes Colombian robusta. Unfortunately, our expectations held true when we brewed and tasted this coffee. The aroma was not pleasant, resembling over-roasted coffee with an additional off-putting note. The taste was incredibly bitter, with no acidity or pleasant flavors to balance it out. It reminded us of the coffee one might find at a gas station. The only redeeming quality was the company's dedication to supporting American veterans, as Black Rifle Coffee Company is veteran-owned and operated.
3.3 Layered Superfoods Turmeric Creamer
Moving on to creamers, we have the Layered Superfoods Turmeric Creamer. This powder-based creamer is gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, and dairy-free, making it a popular choice for health-conscious coffee enthusiasts. It contains a blend of superfood ingredients, and Joe Rogan swears by its deliciousness. Upon trying it, we found that it indeed lives up to its claim. The creamer has a vibrant yellow color and a pleasant aroma. When combined with hot coffee, it effectively reduces bitterness and imparts a creamy texture. However, we personally didn't enjoy the combination of turmeric and coffee flavors, as they seemed to clash on the palate. Despite this, we believe the creamer has potential for other uses, such as making a comforting cup of golden milk or incorporating it into protein shakes.
3.4 Four Sigmatic Mushroom Ground Coffee with Lion's Mane
Last but certainly not least, we come to Joe Rogan's favorite, Four Sigmatic Mushroom Ground Coffee with Lion's Mane. This unique coffee blend combines regular coffee beans with chaga mushrooms and lion's mane mushrooms. According to Four Sigmatic's website, chaga mushrooms support immune functions, while lion's mane mushrooms have cognitive-enhancing properties. Surprisingly, the coffee had the most traceability out of all the products we tried, with its beans sourced sustainably and fairly from Southwest Honduras. Upon brewing, we noticed an earthy aroma, which can be expected from certain coffees. However, contrary to our expectations, the taste was not overwhelmingly mushroom-like. If you enjoy dark roast coffee, this blend offers a smooth and slightly earthy flavor profile with no noticeable mushroom taste. It's a great option for those who want the potential benefits of mushrooms without compromising their coffee preferences.
