Introduction
What's up everybody! James from AM Surplus here today with some important information regarding slide cuts for optics. Red dots are taking over the world, and for good reason - they're just a better way to shoot. But with this new popularity comes some possible confusion on which optic fits which handgun. Today, I'm going to help answer that for you and clear any confusion up. So let's get into it!
Understanding Optic Cuts
When it comes to optics, there are a variety of cuts available. However, three specific cuts have become the industry standard. Let's discuss each of them in detail.
RMR Cut
The RMR cut is the most common cut that you'll see on slides. It refers to the Trijicon RMR and its specific screw pattern and footprint. This cut is designed for the RMR and the SRO, but it also fits great optics like Holosun 407c, Holosun 507c, the Holosun 508t, the Kingslayer from Swamp Fox, and the Liberty from Swamp Fox. Anything that says RMR footprint or RMR pattern is going to fit an RMR cut slide.
Shield RMSC or Holosun 507k Optic Cut
The RM Surplus slimline slides are cut to direct mount a 407k or 507k. This cut is thinner and designed for thinner, smaller slides and optics. It works perfectly with optics like the Holosun 407k, Holosun 507k, and Sig Romeo Zero. Guns like the Glock 43x, Glock 48, Hellcat, Shield Plus, and the entire 365 lineup are great options for this style cut.
Delta Point Cut
The Delta Point cut is the primary footprint for Sig pistols and is commonly used by those running 2011s. This cut accommodates optics like the Delta Point Pro and the Romeo One Pro. If you want to keep the weight down, consider the Romeo Zero Pro, which is a full polymer optic.
Optics with Mounting Plate
Some optics come with their own mounting plate or adapter plate. Optics like the 509t are ready to go for RMR cut slides. Adapter plates provide an upgrade to a factory optic plate or allow an optic to fit a slide that wasn't originally cut for it.
What is an Adapter Plate?
An adapter plate is used to modify the optics mounting system on a handgun slide. It can provide an upgrade to a factory optic plate or allow an optic to fit a slide that wasn't originally cut for it. We will be covering adapter plates in detail in an upcoming video, so stay tuned for more information.
