Gör om en ring till en hänge
Hi everyone, I'm Allie with Potomac Beads, and in today's episode of "Better Beader", I want to show you a simple idea that we came up with while unboxing our Best Bead Box for July. One thing you can do with patterns is alter them to suit your needs. For example, if it's a component, you can turn it into a ring, bracelet, or necklace. But what if you already finished the piece? No worries, you can easily add a band to a pair of earrings to turn them into a ring. But what if you already have a ring made?
[👉 How to Turn a Ring into a Pendant]
Marisa makes tons of rings, and I tend to have my hands in water or be doing activities where wearing beaded rings isn't practical. However, I love her different ring tutorials, and I've made quite a few rings myself. So today, I want to show you how to turn a ring into a pendant without taking it apart. A nice seed-beaded band should allow you, with a little bit of thread, to create an actual pendant.
I have some .006 Wildfire beading thread leftover from my project, which is more than I need. I also have a gemstone bezeled ring here. While I wear it occasionally, it can be bothersome during activities, so I thought it would be great to turn it into a pendant.
In this tutorial, I will be using Marisa's faceted flower ring, which has a lovely design. I'm going to fold the band of the ring in half and use a new piece of black thread. This will ensure that the pendant sits comfortably and doesn't pull back. I'll also make sure I have enough space for the bail.
Starting at the back, I will sew through the portion of the band where it starts to touch and overlap on the other side. Then, I'll sew through the two beads on the opposite side of the band, bringing them together. By doing this, I'm creating a loop. I will sew back through those two beads and the black bead at the base.
To secure it in place, I'll tie a knot with the two thread ends and burn off the excess. Now, I have a nice bail that sits perfectly on the pendant. If I ever want to convert it back into a ring, I can easily disconnect it without damaging the band.
This is just one simple idea to transform a ring into a pendant without having to take it apart. I'm sure you guys will have plenty of other creative ideas, so make sure to share them in the comments below and help out your fellow beading community.
Another idea is to repurpose a single earring that you've lost its pair by adding a jump ring and turning it into a pendant.
