🏨 Our Stay at Scarborough Inn
Scarborough Inn is a delightful accommodation option located in the town of Manio on Roanoke Island. During our recent trip to the Outer Banks, we had the opportunity to stay at this charming inn. In this article, we will provide an in-depth review of our experience. From the check-in process to the room amenities, we'll cover it all. So, if you're considering a visit to this area, keep reading to find out what Scarborough Inn has to offer.
🛎️ Check-in Process
Arriving at Scarborough Inn, we were greeted with an interesting check-in process. Since we arrived around 8 pm, the office was closed. However, there was a kiosk available where we were connected to a live person via video chat. After providing the necessary information and confirming our identity, we received our room key from the kiosk. It's worth noting that even when we visited the office during the day, we didn't encounter any hotel employees. The check-in system solely relied on the video agent, providing a unique and modern experience.
🛌 Room Description
The inn is designed in a motel-style layout, with the room doors opening directly to the outside world. Our room, number 15, was located in one of the duplex-type buildings across the parking lot from the main building. Each room at Scarborough Inn is uniquely decorated with antiques and other distinctive furniture, ensuring that no two rooms are alike. Our queen bed was comfortable, and we also had the option to choose king rooms or rooms with two double beds. The room was equipped with a flat-screen LCD TV, ironing facilities, and a dresser. We appreciated the convenience of the radio alarm clock beside the bed, which also included a USB charger. The presence of a comfortable chair, a table with a lamp, and a coffee maker added to the overall comfort of the room. Additionally, a microwave, sink, mini-fridge with a freezer, and an ice tray were provided, offering useful amenities during our stay.
🚿 Bathroom Amenities
The bathroom at Scarborough inn was divided into two separate rooms. One room featured a sink with hand soap and lotion, along with a water heater. The adjacent room housed the toilet and a tub with a shower combo. We appreciated the availability of body wash and shampoo dispensers on the shower wall. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained, allowing us to freshen up comfortably during our stay.
🐛 The Issue with Bugs
Going along with the charms of a coastal region, Scarborough Inn had an unexpected visitor during our stay - June bugs. Although the room was cleaned thoroughly, we encountered five june bugs during our first night. However, the issue was resolved by blocking the space under the hotel room door with a towel. This temporary fix prevented any further bug encounters, and we were able to enjoy the remaining nights bug-free. It's worth noting that this issue may have been unique to the room we stayed in, and we recommend addressing it with the hotel staff during the check-in process.
